~ Preparing for a successful newborn session ~
To ensure that your newborn is sleepy and still likes to snuggle up into those sweet poses that make newborns look their best, please plan to do your newborn session before your baby is 10 days old. After 10 days, they start to be more alert, and wiggly, making it more difficult to get those precious shots we all love. They also tend to get newborn acne and cradle cap after this time.
~Before your session~
Please do your best to keep baby awake during the 2 hours just prior to your session. We want baby to be extra sleepy when we start pictures. Feed them about 2 hours before and then if they are asleep after eating, change their diaper and lay them on the floor to play. One really great way to keep baby awake during this time is to give them a bath. If you can't keep baby awake for the entire 2 hours, make the bath the last thing you do before you come. I know most newborns are tough to keep awake, so just do your best. You can plan to feed your baby when you get here so we can start with a full tummy. A full tummy and a tired little one equals great newborn photos.
~What to expect during your newborn session~
Relax and let me do all the work :) I may ask for your help sometimes, but mostly this should be a break for you :) Newborn sessions can take up to 3 hours. Be prepared for feeding and diaper breaks. Bring a binky and a bottle, if your baby takes one. I have plenty of wraps and hats/headbands, but if you have something you'd like to include, please bring it with you. I am excited to capture this special time for you!
